Fay L. (Carroll) Abate, 88, of Haverhill passed away peacefully at her residence on Sept. 17.
She was born in Haverhill on May 28, 1926, daughter of the late John and Bessie (Coffin) Carroll. Fay was a graduate of Haverhill High School and was employed in the Haverhill shoe industry. She was a member at the Portland Street Baptist Church for many years.
She was the wife of the late Dominic “Dick” Abate who passed away in 1995 and is survived by her daughter Dorothy J. and her husband Walter DiNicola of Norwood, MA; son Anthony R. and his wife Mary Beth of Atkinson, N.H.; step daughter Angie Robinson of Methuen; grandchildren Michael, Matthew and Caroline DiNicola, and Katherine and Lauren Abate, as well as several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, visitation will be private on Monday, Sept. 22 from 2-3 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
