GROVELAND – Gerald S. Andrews, 73, passed away Tuesday, August 26, at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born and raised in Methuen, he was the son of the late, Harold and Clara (Dube) Andrews, and was a graduate of Tenney High School, class of 1958. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1963 until 1969.
Throughout his career, Mr. Andrews worked in the information technology field at various companies in the Merrimack Valley. He retired from Wellpoint/Unicare in Andover in March 2014.
Jerry loved his books and tending his flower garden; he frequented the hiking trails of the White Mountains and travelled through Amish Country with his wife. He enjoyed researching his ancestry and adored his family.
He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Dianne M. (Staples) Andrews, of Groveland, two sons; Glenn Andrews and his wife, Joyce, of Dracut, Ron and his wife, Dawn, of Milford, NH, a daughter, Holly Schotanus and her husband, Raymond, of Whitinsville. He was ‘Grampa’ to eleven cherished grandchildren: Abigail, Nathan, Ryan and Brittany Andrews, Nicole St. Pierre, Brittany Littlewood, and Nikki, Kiana, and Devin Schotanus. He has one beloved great-grandson, Jamison St. Pierre. He joins grandsons Austin Schotanus and Noah Andrews in Heaven. He was the loving brother of Carol, Robert, George and Warren, and was predeceased by his sisters Florence LaPlante, Gertrude Moerloos and June Engel and brothers Fred, Kenneth, and R. James. He was a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home immediately following visitation at 5 p.m. Burial is private.
