The Haverhill Rotary Club hold its annual Rubber Duck Regatta fundraiser Saturday, Sept 6, during River Ruckus.
The sponsor of one of the 10,000 rubber ducks plunging into the Merrimack River wins $10,000 donated by Rockingham Toyota Honda of Salem, N.H. Second place winners win a weekend getaway in the White Mountains. Those wishing to donate may visit www.adoptaducktoday.com.
Spectators may gather at the Comeau Bridge at 3 p.m. Proceeds from “adoption” of rubber ducks will be donated to more than 40 Merrimack Valley charities including Haverhill Boys and Girls Club, Council on Aging, Haverhill Historical Society, Haverhill Public Library, Salvation Army, YMCA and others.
One rubber duck costs $5, a “Quack Pack” equals six ducks for $25, a “Quacker’s Dozen” equals 13 ducks for $50 and a “Flock of Ducks” equals 28 ducks for $100.
River Ruckus kicks off at 1 p.m. with entertainment including boat and kayak rides, a classic car show, children’s activities, live music, food and a fireworks show in the evening.
