Ralph F. Guzzardi, 95; Ralph’s Restaurant Owner Dies

Ralph F. Guzzardi, 95, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday August 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lawrence, March 2, 1919, Ralph was the son of the late Salvatore Guzzardi and Amelia Rappa Guzzardi, both of Sicily. Ralph was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Scamporino) Guzzardi. A proud veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.

For more than 50 years, Ralph owned and operated Ralph’s Restaurant with his wife and their two sons. For years, Ralph enjoyed spending time on the Cape with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ralph was predeceased by his son, Robert Guzzardi, and his sister, Bianca “Blanche” Yemma. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his son, William Guzzardi, and his daughter, Carol Selvaggio, both of Haverhill; his loving grandchildren Michael, Alicia, and Amy Selvaggio; his sister Nancy (Guzzardi) Catalano and her husband, Sebastian, of Andover; three grandsons of Atkinson, NH; as well as nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, visitation and services were privately held at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. Interment, with Military Honors, followed in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ralph’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
