Organizers of the upcoming annual downtown Haverhill “River Ruckus” event are asking city leaders to either waive fees for police and fire details as well as the costs for a one-day liquor license, or that the city pay those fees.
Team Haverhill Vice President and “River Ruckus” co-chair Tim Jordan is making the request before the Haverhill City Council Tuesday night. They are expected to vote on Team Haverhill’s application for a permit to hold the “River Ruckus” event September 6 in the public parking lot behind the Tap restaurant and on the nearby boardwalk.
The estimated total cost based on last year’s expenses amount to $2,740. Their plans are subject to approvals by police and the Haverhill License Commission. The Haverhill City council meets at 7 p.m., Tuesday night in council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
