Andrew Vanni of Medford has been named Haverhill’s finance director.

Vanni, who has served as Middleton’s chief financial officer for 15 years, will also supervise the city’s IT department, said Mayor James J. Fiorentini. Vanni will be paid $111,000 annually. “I am pleased to have Mr. Vanni join our administration. He impressed all of us on the interview committee with his depth of experience and thorough knowledge of financial management in a municipality,” Fiorentini said in a press release. His proven leadership in his past position along with his breadth of knowledge in the financial field made him the clear choice for the position.”

Vanni will be the city accountant and auditor and supervise the auditing, purchasing, treasurer and assessing offices in city hall. He succeeds Charles Benevento who recently took a similar post in Amesbury. Besides Middelton, Vanni previously worked for Bolton as principle assessor and Raytheon Company as a tax manager.
