Healey, Former Asst. AG, Appears Mon. on Open Mike Show

Maura Healey

Maura Healey, candidate for Massachusetts attorney general, appears live on the Open Mike Show with Tim Coco Monday night.

Healey’s appearance kicks off WHAV’s 2014 election coverage. All candidates have an opportunity to appear on the program.

Healey recently stepped down as assistant attorney general after heading two divisions in the state’s chief law enforcement office—both the Public Protection and Advocacy Bureau and the Business & Labor Bureau.

Earlier in her career, she served as chief of the attorney general’s Civil Rights Division after serving as a private sector attorney with WilmerHale (formerly Hale and Dorr) of Boston, a Middlesex County prosecutor, and, for two years, as a starting point guard on a professional basketball team.

Healey joined the attorney general’s office in 2007 and won the Commonwealth’s landmark challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the nation’s first lawsuit striking down the law that discriminated against same-sex married couples.

The Open Mike Show airs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Mondays. It may be heard online at www.WHAV.net and seen at www.WHAV.TV and HC Media Channel 22.
