Rivera Backs Grossman for Governor

A Merrimack Valley mayor gives his backing to a Democratic Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate while highlighting economic opportunity for gateway communities including Haverhill. Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera officially endorsed Massachusetts State Treasurer Steve Grossman in his campaign for governor Wednesday, saying he has a proven track record of creating jobs and economic opportunity and a vision and commitment that will meet the most urgent priority of gateway communities over the next several years.

Rivera said, “Steve Grossman brings to the Corner Office a track record of creating jobs and widespread economic opportunity.”  Grossman, meanwhile, said, “We both believe that the zip code in which you are born must not determine the quality of your education or your economic prospects.” Grossman took office as state treasurer in 2011 after a long career as a small businessman, philanthropist, and progressive political activist.
