Two members of the Haverhill Police department received honors this week as officers of the year by the Haverhill Exchange Club.
A police spokesman says Haverhill Detective Dan McDonald and police Officer George Dekeon were honored by the Haverhill Exchange Club for their service. Detective McDonald was called a valued member of the narcotics unit having conducted numerous successful investigations. He also coaches high school football and Babe Ruth baseball.
Officer Dekeon is assigned to the patrol division. He was recognized for his quick action while providing aid to a stricken runner and possibly saving the person’s life.
