Help continue the legacy of legendary WHAV News Director Edwin V. Johnson.

Edwin V. Johnson was WHAV’s legendary local news director and longest-serving employee, beginning only a few years after the radio station signed on in 1947. Over a 34-year career, he demonstrated a commitment to objectivity, accuracy and truth in reporting.

Mr. Johnson nearly simultaneously inspired several generations of students as instructor of English and public speaking at Haverhill High School from 1953 to 1989. He is credited with launching the careers of a number of students, including Tom Bergeron.

Members of the Edwin V. Johnson Society have the distinction of being WHAV’s most generous and inspirational supporters, ensuring Mr. Johnson’s local news legacy continues.

  • Former News Director Edwin V. Johnson set the standard for local news reporting over his nearly 35-year-career at WHAV.
