Anna Jaques Hospital of Newburyport recently earned Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians.

The national Bronze-level recognition identifies the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality, specialized emergency care for older adults throughout the region.

“Earning this accreditation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional, compassionate care tailored to the complex needs of the aging population,” said Tom Sands, market president—North Shore and president of Anna Jaques, Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge Hospitals. “This recognition reflects the outstanding work of our clinicians and colleagues, who are dedicated to creating an environment where every older patient receives the focused attention, dignity, and expertise they deserve.”

The voluntary accreditation program, developed by the American College of Emergency Physicians with support from the Gary and Mary West Health Institute and The John A. Hartford Foundation, recognizes emergency departments that implement best practices in caring for older adults. The accreditation signifies that the Anna Jaques Hospital Emergency Department, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, has implemented essential geriatric-focused policies, staff education and interdisciplinary care models that improve outcomes and patient satisfaction for aging patients.
