In honor of the 50th anniversary of the movie “Jaws,” sharks are invading the Langley-Adams Library in Groveland.
Frank Mandosa will present a hybrid program on all things related to the blockbuster movie as well as sharks in particular including fun facts, trivia and, for those attending in person, shark-themed snacks next Monday, July 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Langley-Adams Library, 185 Main St., Groveland. Those attending virtually will be sent a link once registered.
On Tuesday, July 8, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Christopher Shaw Myers gives an in person celebration of his uncle, the late actor Robert Shaw, who played the shark hunter Quint in the famous movie. Myers, of Fairfield, Conn., has written a biography on his famous uncle.
Finally, on Wednesday, July 9, Catherine Bilodeau from the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, N.H., will be on hand from 2 to 3 p.m. to take deep dive into the underwater world of the shark. She will discuss shark science as well as the impact the movie Jaws has had on pop culture and our knowledge of sharks. Participants can dig through a sandbox to retrieve a real shark tooth and take home a necklace.
Those interested may register for the three programs online at LangleyAdamsLib.org. Space is limited.
