The Haverhill Garden Club June Garden of the Month award goes to Jack Flynn for his 16 Fernwood Ave. arrangements.
According to the Garden Club, Flynn’s infatuation with gardening began nearly 60 years ago at his childhood home in Ipswich. He fondly remembers creating small garden beds around the house for his mother.
After he and his wife, Mary, married and moved to Bradford, Flynn said “Our new yard felt like an open canvas and so began a long-term, ever-evolving gardening journey.” More recently, a new challenge evolved: the intricate and meditative art of Japanese bonsai gardening, deepening Flynn’s appreciation for the beauty and patience the practice requires.
As WHAV has reported, the Haverhill Garden Club selects Garden of the Month winners from public nominations from June through September. Nominees must be personally and privately maintained gardens from homes in Haverhill, can be one’s own or someone else’s eye-catching garden and should include the garden address and contact information. Nominees must not already be members of the garden club. Nominations can be sent via private message through the Club’s Facebook page or emailed to [email protected].
