Canoeists and kayakers have the opportunity to take the waters of Crystal Lake at a Let’s Paddle Haverhill event.
Participants with their watercraft are advised to gather Saturday, June 28, at 9:30 a.m., at the Crystal Lake Pump House for a group launch at 10 a.m. Robert E. Moore, Haverhill’s environmental health technician, leads the two-hour tour. Access to the lake is just after 67 Crystal Lake Road, Haverhill, where a sign indicates the entrance.
Paddlers are advised they must wear an U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vest. Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Carpooling is encouraged because the parking lot has just 20 spaces.
Crystal Lake is one of Haverhill’s drinking water reservoirs and has only recently been opened to canoeing and kayaking. It is surrounded by conservation land and hiking trails.
Registration takes place online at TeamHaverhill.org, under “Projects” and “Community.”
