The Annual Haverhill Public Schools Citywide Art Show opens with a reception at Haverhill High School later this week with a showcase of art by students in pre-k to grade 12.
In extending an invitation to the public, Susan S. Hatfield, the curriculum supervisor for fine and performing arts for the school district, said high school performing groups including the band, chorus, glee club and drama club will perform at the opening reception. Hatfield said students in the film club will also screen their projects.
“What I really love so much about this event is you really get to see a little bit of the vision coming through. You get to see how kids are exploring in pre-k and k and you get to see wonderful, wonderful skilled work by high school visual artists,” she said.
The opening reception will be Thursday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St. The art show is runs through Friday, May 23, and it open for viewing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
