The Haverhill and Plaistow YMCA invites golfers to participate in its first Fore the Future Golf Tournament.
Participants will be offered breakfast Friday, May 30, before a shotgun start at 8 a.m.at the Bradford Country Club, 201 Chadwick St., Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the tournament. Contests include hole-in-one with a $25,000 grand prize. Golfers with the longest drive and closest ball to the pin will also win recognition. Each golfer goes home with swag bag that includes a sweatshirt and hoodie.
Campaign Assistant McKenna R. Jennings said the Y decided to organize its own tournament this year to encourage more local participation. In previous years, the Haverhill & Plaistow Y has participated in a golfing event sponsored by the YMCA of the North Shore, she said, but few golfers from Haverhill participated.
The cost to Fore the Future golf event is $200 for individuals and $800 for a foursome. Proceeds pay for camperships. Proceeds also support the Y’s other child care programs and food security initiatives.
