The Gallery at 43 Washington in downtown Haverhill is set to close in December as SJ Art Consulting plans to pivot to an office and showroom model.

Owner Sarah LoVasco says SJ Art Consulting is closing the gallery Saturday, Dec. 21, shifting its focus to working closely with its represented artists, preparing for art fairs and hosting smaller, more intimate events.

LoVasco explains in a release, her company was established in 2013 to support artists, but “lately, demand from our residential and commercial clients has been outpacing sales at our Haverhill Gallery. This transition aims to increase art sales and enhance our long-term relationships,” the release notes.

She says she “expresses heartfelt gratitude to the exhibiting artists who contributed to the gallery’s success over the past three years. Their trust and authenticity have shaped the gallery’s identity. We curated 11 solo shows and hosted over 70 artists for our Small Works Show.”

A final opening reception, “Hot House” by Helen Popinchalk takes place Saturday, Nov. 9, from 5-8 p.m., at 43 Washington St., Haverhill.
