The Haverhill musical duo Sultana Thursday presents “History and Legends Through Song,” featuring two original songs about Haverhill history.

One song focuses on the historical figure Hannah Duston, while the other addresses the struggles of 19th-century women in the shoe factories advocating for fair pay.

Sultana consists of Haverhill residents Jon and Li Waterman, both lifelong musicians and songwriters. Jon, a history teacher, created a show that includes songs and related history on various topics, ranging from ancient Mesopotamia and Medieval Europe to the Old West and modern times. This performance is part of the series “Live Music Making History Live.” Other shows in the series include “The Roots of American Popular Music,” “The Railroad in Song” and “Popular Music and Veterans.”

It takes place Thursday, Oct. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. at Buttonwoods Museum, 240 Water St., Haverhill. Admission is free and open to the public.
