The Merrimack Valley Credit Union recently hosted a community Shred Day at its Lawrence, Waltham and Bridgewater locations.
Credit union members and the public brought old, unwanted documents to be shredded. Representatives said proper disposal of documents, such as shredding, helps ensure identity theft protection as shredding is the safest way to dispose of documents containing a signature, account number, social security number or medical or legal information that are no longer necessary to retain. Throughout the day, the credit union also offered light refreshments and held a drawing to win two tickets, won by Rolando Montanez, to see the New England Patriots play the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.
“Our members and communities truly enjoy and appreciate these Shred Day events as they provide a wonderful opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted documents,” said Merrimack Valley Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Paula Kerwin. “It’s also a fun way for our team to connect with our members and communities outside of the normal financial services.”
The credit union plans one more Shred Day later this fall.
