Merrimack Valley Planning Commission Names Distefano as Community Planner

Tyler T. Distefano recently joined the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission as a community planner.

Distefano is an addition to the Haverhill-based Commission’s Community and Economic Development program. As a community planner, he supports a variety of department and agency projects such as the Priority Growth Strategy and Housing Production Plans.

His previous professional background includes working for various regional planning agencies and nonprofit organizations. As a former transit planner in central Massachusetts, officials said, Distefano understands the intersection between development and transportation.

He earned his bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2022. He also pursued a year-long CivicSpark Fellowship through an AmeriCorps program in Denver, Colorado at a climate education and school innovation nonprofit in 2023.

Distefano resides in southern New Hampshire and has roots in the Merrimack Valley.
