Groveland Council on Aging Offers Series for National Fall Prevention Awareness Week

The Groveland Council on Aging is offering a series of events in recognition of Fall Prevention Awareness Week to help older adults reduce fall risk, maintain independence, and stay active.

Council on Aging Director Alyssa Lee notes “Falling is not a normal part of aging. However, falls remain the leading cause of serious injuries and death for older adults. The good news is they are preventable, and there are proven steps people can take to reduce their risk.”

For National Fall Prevention Awareness Week, the Groveland Council on Aging offers 3B Fitness: Bones, Brains & Balance with Brian Coyne, Tuesday, Sept. 24. at 9 a.m.; Ask the Nurse! with Board of Health Nurse Anita Wright, Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 10-11 a.m., and Line Dancing with Susan Tribble, starting at 11 a.m.; Meditation & Mindfulness with Deborah Fay D’Onofrio, Thursday, Sept. 26, starting at 10 a.m., and Fall Prevention Workshop with Letourneau’s Pharmacy & Home Medical Equipment at 1 p.m.; and Yoga with Mary Van Abs, Friday, Sept. 27, 10:45 a.m.
