Forged Muse Productions, an educational performing arts company, presents youth theater performances “Ride the Cyclone” and “Coraline: The Musical” this month.

“Ride the Cyclone,” is a story about a group of deceased teenagers who must compete for the chance to return to the world of the living. The second, “Coraline: The Musical,” is an adaptation of the popular children’s novel by Neil Gaiman about a young girl who must face the evils hidden in her family’s new house. Attendees will have the chance to play games, participate in activities, and win prizes in the carnivals which will proceed each show except for the final performance of “Coraline.”

Those younger than 13 must have permission from a parent/guardian or a parent/guardian present to attend “Ride the Cyclone” because of adult themes. In addition, because the actors are minors and some scenes are of a sensitive nature, no photography nor video is permitted at the performance.

“Coraline” is appropriate for all ages.

Tickets for both productions are available on eventbrite.com. General admission is $20 and $5 extra to reserve front row seats. Admission for the carnival only, for those who do not wish to attend the productions, is $5, but children under three may attend for free.

“Ride the Cyclone” will be performed Friday and Saturday, Aug. 16 and 17, 6 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 18, 3 p.m., at Veasey Memorial Park, 201 Washington St. Groveland. The carnival starts one hour before each show.

“Coraline” will be performed at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, and 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St. The carnival starts one hour before each show, Friday, Aug. 23, at 5 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m., but there will be no carnival between the afternoon and evening shows on Saturday.
