Update: District Attorney, Police Say Two Dead Following Shootings Inside Broadway, Haverhill Home

Two people are confirmed dead after an apparent shooting in Haverhill late Sunday afternoon.

In a joint release from Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert P. Pistone, said “A male and female were found fatally shot inside a residence on Broadway.” Tucker’s office said Haverhill Police received a call to check the well-being of residents at approximately 5:43 p.m.

“Responding officers found a male and female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Their identities are being withheld pending completion of notification of next of kin. There is no known risk to the public,’ Tucker’s office said.

The shootings are under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Essex County District Attorney and detectives from the Haverhill Police Department.

Haverhill Police and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Essex County District Attorney are conducting an investigation on Broadway in Haverhill.

Police were dispatched sometime after 5 p.m., Sunday night, to Broadway near Smith Street. Police blocked the street and there was an unconfirmed report of two shootings. Early reports are often erroneous or incomplete. As a matter of policy, WHAV does not speculate.

Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office is typically called in early when there is a death or probability of death. A spokesman for Tucker’s office would only say “Cannot confirm circumstances, however (State Police Detective Unit) is on scene conducting an investigation. That is all we are confirming at this time.”
