Methuen Patrolman Jeff Torrisi, a 25-year veteran of the Methuen Police Department, was promoted last week to sergeant.
Torrisi had been serving as a detective assigned to the FBI Transnational Organized Crime Task Force. Torrisi began his career with the Methuen Police Department as an auxiliary police officer in 1996. He served as a dispatcher for a year before becoming a full-time police officer upon his graduation from the Lowell Police Academy in 1999.
He was recognized as the Exchange Club Police Officer of the Year in 2002, in connection with the bravery he demonstrated while extracting a family from a house fire on Stevens Street that same year.
Torrisi was born and raised in Methuen, graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1993 and later from UMass Lowell with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Torrisi went on to graduate from Western New England College in 2002, with a master’s degree in criminal justice administration.
Other positions in which he served include school resource officer, K-9 officer, Traffic Unit and advisor to the Methuen Police Explorer’s program for 27 years.
