Haverhill Digs Out From First Major Winter Storm; Schools Remain Closed Monday

With Haverhill reporting more than a dozen inches of snow accumulation, public schools will remain closed Monday.

School officials say the additional time will allow snow teams more time to continue clearing streets, sidewalks and school properties in time for reopening Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Haverhill’s Public Works Department says it continues snow removal following its priority list, starting with main arteries and following through with minor arteries, collector streets, other local streets and cul de sacs and other dead-end streets. The department asks residents not to move their snow into public streets.

Mayor Melinda E. Barrett declared a Snow Emergency as of midnight, Saturday night, through Sunday night at 9. Parking is prohibited on both sides of the street along the Snow Emergency Routes.

Those with particular snow-related issues may call 978-374-2365.

WHAV’s Wave Weather Meteorologist James Covington is calling for a mostly sunny Monday, with temperatures topping out at 31 degrees. Stay tuned to Wave Weather every half hour for updates.
