As part of a $2.6 million districtwide drawbridge repair contract, Congressman William H. Bates Veterans Memorial Bridge closes during tonight through tomorrow morning.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said it will close the drawbridge between Groveland and Haverhill, from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. tomorrow to allow crews to safely and efficiently conduct movable span repairs.
There will be traffic detours in place, diverting traffic to the Pfc. Ralph T. Basiliere Bridge, Route 125, in Haverhill.
The navigable channel will remain open to marine traffic with no restrictions and work is weather dependent and subject to change.
