Man Drowns in Haverhill, Falls From Boat After Apparent Medical Emergency

A man died in an apparent drowning Saturday night in Haverhill.

Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said the man was on a boat at Marianna’s Marina, 72 Coffin Ave., when he suffered an apparent medical emergency and fell into the Merrimack River Saturday night.

Haverhill Police arrived on scene at 11:47 p.m. and were able to get the man onto a dock. He was transported to Holy Family Hospital, Haverhill, where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected but the incident is being investigated by the Essex County State Police Detective Unit and Haverhill Police Department.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family and friends.
