Methuen begins regularly scheduled collection of yard waste on Tuesday.

Methuen Mayor Neil Perry and Public Works Director Patrick Bower said they have worked to develop a temporary solution, while still planning to buy a city truck for the job.

“Yard waste will be picked up on the regular schedule that coincides with recycling collection every two weeks,” said Perry. “We realize we are off to a late start, but will collect yard waste through the week ending July 21.”

He added, “We understand the frustration our citizens have been feeling and we greatly appreciate their patience as we worked through the process of putting a contract in place to secure a vendor to temporarily provide this service. Our long-term plan remains to purchase a packer truck so we can perform this service in-house in the future. However, that goal has proven to be more difficult to achieve than anticipated.”
