Essex Heritage Names Colby-Campbell People’s Choice Winner for Haverhill River Photo in Contest

Haverhill’s Alison Colby-Campbell was named “People’s Choice Winner” for her entry in the 2022 Essex Heritage Photo Contest.

The award is given for the most “liked” photograph on Facebook from the pool of submissions. Colby-Campbell presented her “Haverhill by Night on the River” photograph. She will join other winners at a free reception Thursday, March 2, at 6 p.m., at Salem Armory Visitor Center, 2 New Liberty St., Salem. All winning photographs will be on display and light refreshments will be served.

The grand prize-winning photograph was “Thacher Island Balancing Act,” taken in Rockport by Jason Kennedy

In the “Downtown” category, first place went to “Everett Mill Clock,” taken in Lawrence by Francisco Urena. Second and third places went to “Ice Festival Stroll,” taken in Salem by Donna Bambury, and “North Parish at Night,” taken in North Andover by William Putnam

In “New Encounters,” first place was awarded to “Piping Plover Mother with Chicks Underneath,” taken in Gloucester by Peter Van Demark, followed by  “Extreme Fishing,” taken in Gloucester by Joyce Wood, and “Resting Below a Lotus Canopy,” taken in Groveland by Deric C. LePard

For “Splash of Color,” first place went to “Egret in Dawn Light,” taken in Gloucester by Carin Macnamara, followed by “Got My Limit,” taken in Ipswich by Judy Schneider, and “Fire and Ice,” taken in Salem by Kathy Valido.

“Youth Photography,” involving those ages five to 17, also won recognition. First place went to “Fireworks Comet,” taken in Salem by Zoey Matthias, followed by “A Path of Clouds,” taken in Andover by Ashley Sheldon, and “A Peek Down the Street,” taken in Lynn by Steven Hachey.
