Groveland’s Langley-Adams Library is hosting an in-person and virtual event based on author Brian Earl’s book, “Christmas Past: The Fascinating Stories Behind Our Favorite Holiday’s Traditions.”

The talk takes place Monday, Dec. 19, from 7-8 p.m., at the Langley-Adams Library, 185 Main St., Groveland.

Earl’s presentation covers traditions ancient and modern and stories of happy accidents, cultural histories, criminal capers and hidden connections between Christmas and broader social, economic and technological influences.

Brian Earl is a designer, writer and podcaster in Silicon Valley. He runs a podcast called “Christmas Past” which has received mention from Vanity Fair, Modern Woman/USA Today, The Financial Times, Best Life, Bustle, Huffington Post, PopSugar and other local and national media outlets. He also works as a frequent freelance contributor to The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix and other Boston-area publications.
