This weekend is Massachusetts’ sales tax holiday.

It is the second annual sales tax-free weekend under a 2018 law signed by Gov. Charlie Baker that made the annual holiday permanent. In an earlier statement, the governor said the law may prove especially helpful this year.

“This pandemic has created enormous challenges for the Commonwealth’s small businesses, and the sales tax-free weekend is one way that we can encourage more economic activity to help Main Street businesses and local economies,” he said.

This Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29 and 30, retail items of up to $2,500 purchased in Massachusetts for personal use is exempt from sales tax.
