A lucky high school student could win a $30,000 scholarship and other rewards by entering the “Voice of Democracy” contest sponsored locally by Haverhill’s Lorraine Post 29 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Students in grades 9-12, enrolled in U.S. public, private or parochial school or home-schooled, are eligible. The contest involves writing and recording a three- to five-minute democratic and patriotic-themed essay, answering the question, “Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?” The deadline for entering is Saturday, Oct. 31. The local winning essay will be broadcast over 97.9 WHAV.
