Pentucket Regional Middle School principal Kenneth Kelley will formally become principal of Merrimac’s Helen R. Donaghue and Dr. Frederick N. Sweetsir Elementary Schools on July 1.

Kelley, who has served as Pentucket Regional Middle School principal for 13 years, has been serving as interim principal of the Donaghue and Sweetsir Schools since November. Pentucket Regional Superintendent Justin Bartholomew said Kelley was appointed based on “overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, teachers, community members, parents and our own observations this school year.”

“Mr. Kelley works exceedingly well alongside Assistant Principal Stephanie Dembro, and together they’ve done a great job of supporting teachers, connecting with students and helping to develop a positive culture of trust, respect and fun,” Bartholomew said.

Jim Carlson is currently interim principal at Pentucket Regional Middle School, and was previously the assistant principal there until being named interim principal last November. The district is seeking applicants for the principal at Pentucket Regional Middle School.
