Drivers should expect nightly delays for the next three months when traveling over Methuen’s Howe Street Bridge and along Route 213 east.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation began work Sunday to repair a damaged beam on the bridge. Repairs take place each night, 8 p.m.-4:30 a.m., when traffic shifts to a single travel lane both north and southbound. Route 213 eastbound will also closed, as needed, while demolition of the beam and bridge deck take place overhead.

When Route 213 eastbound is closed, drivers will be detoured at exit 3 onto Pleasant Street. Signs are in place to lead back onto Route 213.
