Free Courses Available at Community Action’s Adult Learning Center

Community Action’s Adult Learning Center is offering free courses for Greater Haverhill residents to learn English, obtain diplomas and start new careers.

There are openings for residents to prepare and pass the High School Equivalency Test after taking an entry placement exam. Registration for upcoming sessions is Tuesday, March 10, 10 a.m.-noon, at 3 Washington Square, third floor, Haverhill.

“We hope to create more opportunities for our adult learners that reach far beyond the classroom. We want our adult learners to take the skills and confidence they learned in the classroom to improve their employment, educational and career opportunities,” said Timothy Ruggere, director of Community Action Education and Training program.

The Adult Learning center also offers English for speakers of other languages for residents who want to learn to communicate with family, doctors and employers, and help prepare them for citizenship exams, college applications or job training.

The Career Pathway program helps refresh reading, writing, math and communication skills to prepare individuals for their career field.

Courses are available for those who are not attending school and are over the age of 16.
