Haverhill Democrats to Elect State Convention Delegates at March 21 Caucus

Registered Haverhill Democrats are planning to elect delegates and alternates to the 2020 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention in March.

Haverhill is sending 28 delegates and 28 alternates to the state convention, along with other ex-officio delegates. The caucus takes place Saturday, March 21, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Haverhill Public Library Auditorium, 99 Main St. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

The 2020 Democratic Convention takes place Saturday, May 30, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell. At that time, thousands of Democrats from across the state will come together to discuss party business and where delegates will cast a vote for their preferred Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate. The event is a must for U.S. Senate candidates who must receive at least 15% of the vote to appear on the September primary ballot. The candidate who receives a majority of the convention’s vote will receive the party’s endorsement.

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Haverhill. Pre-Registered Democrats who will be 16 by Feb. 15, will be allowed to participate and run as a delegate or alternate. Youth, minorities, people with disabilities and LGBTQ individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate at the caucus may apply to be an add-on Delegate at the caucus or at www.massdems.org.
