Gov. Baker, Lt. Gov. Polito Celebrate Career Tech Initiative at Greater Lawrence Technical School

Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito are celebrating the launch of the Career Tech Initiative Greater Lawrence Technical School this afternoon.

They will joined by Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta, Secretary of Education James Peyser, Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera, Greater Lawrence Tech Superintendent John Lavoie and other local leaders.

As Baker announced in his State of the Commonwealth address, the Initiative expands the capacity of vocational high schools by running three shifts a day, in order to train more than 20,000 additional residents over the next four years.

The Career Tech Initiative Celebration is to take place at 3:30 p.m., at Greater Lawrence Technical School, 57 River Road, Andover.
