Haverhill Public Schools, Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School and Timberlane Regional School District remain closed today in the aftermath of the season’s first big storm.
Holy Family Hospital’s Methuen senior supper, planned for 3:30 to 4:30 this afternoon has been cancelled. Because of the weather the meeting of the Haverhill Women’s City Club planned for Tuesday is postponed until next Tuesday, Dec. 10.
More cancellations and delays will be announced during “Win for Breakfast,” beginning at 6 a.m., over 97.9 WHAV FM.
Mayor James J. Fiorentini said he was generally satisfied with the city’s snowplowing efforts over the last few days, but there were problems in those areas where residents did not obey parking rules.
Fiorentini issued the statement yesterday on his own “Haverhill News” social media page, saying crews did “a very good job,” pre-sanding streets helped and most residents complied with the city’s odd/even side of the street parking rules.
“On those streets where there were cars on both sides of the street, the streets were not well plowed. We need to do a better job of ticketing and towing,” the mayor said.
The mayor said he takes responsibility for the city not doing a good job of notifying people in the Mount Washington area that trash pickup would be delayed a day.
Several residents also complained their streets were missed by snowplows.
