John Lund stars in Monday night’s “Suspense” episode, “Winner Lose All.” He plays a gambler with a scheme to help a Las Vegas casino win publicity, but things go wrong when he becomes greedy.
A Norwegian immigrant who acted in amateur productions, Lund came to radio in the early 1940s as an announcer. He began playing the title role in the serial “Chaplain Jim” in 1942 on the Blue Network (formerly NBC-Blue). Lund first appeared on Broadway in 1941 when he appeared in William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It.” It was his appearance, however, in “The Hasty Heart” in 1945 that won him a movie contract with Paramount Pictures.
He was also the fourth to play Johnny Dollar on “Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar” from 1952 to 1954.
