Haverhill High’s Cinderella’s Closet Seeks Prom Dress, Formal Wear Donations

With six weeks to go until Haverhill High’s senior prom, former Hillie art teacher Susan Finn wants to make sure every student feels like Cinderella on her special night. To make sure that happens, the retired educator has again organized a formal wear donation drive at the Monument Street school before the May 28 dance.

Working alongside Eridania Nieves and Andy Polonco and the school’s VIP club, Finn has created a permanent dressing room for students to try on dresses and accessories donated by locals. She tells WHAV all items students pick for their prom are free of charge and do not need to be returned. Through Cinderella’s Closet, Finn’s team also offers a select number of free and subsidized prom tickets.

“I love this organization and hope it continues to flourish,” Finn tells WHAV. “It was a lot of work but I felt so happy when prom was over and those who might not be able to attend did. I hope to continue to solicit donations and have appreciated the help of the community.”

To drop off new or gently used formal wear—dresses size 10-18 and medium-sized suits are of particular need—please contact the Haverhill High office at 978-374-5700. When donating, please attach a name to the items. Appointments must be made to shop in the closet and parents are invited with their students.
