Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s master plan committee is confirmed and ready to get to work. At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Fiorentini intends to officially announce the 11-member group that will convene later this month to direct Haverhill’s municipal growth.

Joining the committee are Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce President Dougan Sherwood, Haverhill Planning Board Chairman Paul Howard, Haverhill Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman George Moriarty, Fishbrook Design architect Matt Juros and Haverhill Highlands neighbor and community activist Lynda Brown.

City Councilor Mary Ellen Daly O’Brien, former mayor James Rurak and former Haverhill Planning and Economic Development Director Gene O’Neill round out the group.

City Environmental Health Technician Rob Moore, Public Works Director Michael Stankovich, and Planning and Development Director William Pillsbury serve as ex-officio members.

“Our new master plan can encourage the right kind of development that brings us jobs, provides our citizens with homes to live in, and protects our environment as well as the beauty and history of our city,” Fiorentini said.

A meeting date for the group that will determine where the city’s next business park will be, among other priority tasks, has not yet been set.
