97.9 WHAV ♦ January 31, 2022 ♦ Public Media of New England, Inc.
Dear reader,

Welcome to the all-new Wavelengths daily local news email!

WHAV—on-air, online, in social media, via email and more—strives to deliver the most local news in a variety of multimedia formats to meet the community’s need to know.

This new “Wavelengths,” the name reflecting both WHAV’s historical broadcasting role and the “waves” of the Merrimack River that connect Valley residents, is easier-to-read with more news, a sharper layout and improved navigation.

Federal Communications Commission Chair Jessica Rosenworcel recently remarked on the role of broadcasters, such as 97.9 WHAV, to provide local information as other forms of media go away and to combat “fake news.”

“We all need local journalism to make decisions about our lives, communities and country. Yet over the last decade and a half, nearly 2,000 newspapers have shuttered and it’s getting harder and harder to find economic models that give us the news we need,” she said.

WHAV members and underwriters make full 97.9 WHAV Local News available to everyone, every day in a variety of formats without ever having to log in. If you know someone who may not be getting the news they need, please suggest they sign up here.
