Plaistow, N.H., Closes Town Landfill This Saturday Because of Flooding
|
|
|
Recent rains have flooded the landfill in Plaistow, N.H., causing the town to close the area to household wastes this Saturday. The town landfill is typically open from May to September two Saturdays, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., and two Wednesday nights each a month from 4-8 p.m. There is a landfill schedule on Plaistow’s website.

Haverhill’s Whittier Birthplace Again Open for Tours Through October

Haverhill’s Whittier Birthplace is now open for guided tours of the 1688-era home of poet John Greenleaf Whittier. The approximately one-hour tour explores the Whittier family’s lives on the farm and the early life of the abolitionist and poet. Visitors may also walk the self-guided Freeman Memorial Trail through the woods and fields of the Whittier Birthplace. Tours take place …
