At New Building, State Senator Foresaw WHAV’s ‘Promise’ in 1947

Of all the dignitaries who visited WHAV on the opening of its new studio building 75 years ago this month, state Sen. Philip K. Allen marveled at how its construction forecast the station’s future.

“It will fill a need for news coverage and the implementation of education throughout the area to which its services reach. The modern conception of its building architecturally and scientifically should, I think, give promise of things to come,” he said.

A virtual housewarming party is the theme of nonprofit WHAV’s end of year appeal and nonprofit WHAV asks listeners to give a housewarming gift in support of local news and entertainment. To give or learn more, click here.
