Fighting for Your Right to Know

WHAV is working overtime, seven-days-a-week to bring you these critically important stories. Please help make this local news effort sustainable with your donation.

Studies show the collapse of local newsrooms across the country in recent years has resulted in more secrecy, fewer voters going to the polls and even discouraged candidates from seeking local office. In this darkness, individual communities and legislatures—including right here in Massachusetts—are keeping secrets from the public and hiding behind failed laws that promote a lack of accountability.

WHAV makes local news available to everyone, every day on-air at 97.9 FM, online at WHAV.net, in social media, over cable television in many communities, through podcasts and more. All of this is thanks to WHAV members.

    Before You Go…

If you believe, as WHAV does, that an informed public makes for better neighbors, employees, volunteers, customers, leaders, voters and citizens, we have a small favor to ask.

Unlike others, WHAV makes its journalism available to all. If you’re not already a donor or member, WHAV needs your ongoing support to do its job. The news media is hurting with thousands of outlets closing across the country. Local news has suffered the most. While we may not always agree on what event should or should not have been covered, WHAV’s philosophy is to err on the side of disclosure. If you share a belief in these principles, help WHAV to continue being Greater Haverhill’s most trusted, reliable and thought-provoking source of news—whether on-air, online, over cable television or in social media.
