Studies show the collapse of local newsrooms across the country in recent years has resulted in more secrecy, fewer voters going to the polls and even discouraged candidates from seeking local office. In this darkness, individual communities and legislatures—including right here in Massachusetts—are keeping secrets from the public and hiding behind failed laws that promote a lack of accountability.
