WHAV Membership Drive Remembers Arthur Flynn

This year’s WHAV Spring Membership Drive focuses on the 75th anniversary of WHAV first coming to the service of local audiences—a mission that today is more important than ever.

Over the past 75 years of WHAV’s Merrimack Valley service, the radio station met residents’ needs for community information even as other media disappeared. Former boxer-turned-WLAW-radio-announcer Arthur Flynn, for example, came to WHAV when the Lawrence station closed. He hosted a weeknight program, called “Assignment Haverhill.”

As some news organizations close and others cut back, help WHAV continue—and grow—local service during this critical spring membership drive. Help celebrate WHAV’s diamond jubilee with a birthday gift in support of Greater Haverhill’s only public radio station and nonprofit local news service. Just click here to learn more.
