Glenn to Take Listener Calls on WHAV’s Open Mike Show Monday
New College
President Outlines Vision for Institution
Dr. Lane A. Glenn, who became Northern Essex
Community College’s fourth president this summer, will take listener
calls Monday night during WHAV’s Open Mike Show.
Glenn will be interviewed by WHAV News Director Marc Lemay during the
live broadcast which begins at 6:30 p.m. from the Edwin V. Johnson
Newsroom. The program can be heard at www.WHAV.net and several area
public access stations. Open Mike may also be viewed over Haverhill
Community Television’s Channel 22 and at www.WHAV.TV.
Prior to his appointment as president in July, Glenn served as vice
president of academic affairs for five years. He has expanded the
college’s relationships with local high schools and partnered with
local employers, such as Raytheon, to develop programs that deliver the
skills most needed in the job market.
Before joining Northern Essex staff he served as dean of academic and
student services at Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills, Mich., and
on the faculty at Lansing Community College, Lansing, Mich. Glenn
earned a doctorate from Michigan State University, a master’s from
Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s from Northeastern State
University.
The WHAV call letters have been associated with local broadcasting
since 1947. WHAV is today operated by Public Media of New England Inc.,
a not-for-profit corporation. Since 2004, the call has served the
Merrimack Valley’s pioneer Internet radio station at WHAV.net and a
number of public access cable television stations in Andover, Haverhill
and Methuen, and Plaistow and Sandown, N.H. The station is also heard
