Plaistow,
N.H. Local Access TV Channel 17 now airing WHAV
Channel Joins
Andover, Haverhill, Methuen and Sandown
WHAV
is now heard on Plaistow’s local access television channel 17.
Channel 17 carries other local programming
and broadcasts WHAV when it is not airing its regularly scheduled
programming. The radio station is also heard on the Internet at
WHAV.net, cable television in several area communities, mobile phones
and a low-power AM radio station at 1640.
“WHAV is designed for the local listener.
Every aspect, from weather reports to breaking news, is written from a
local angle, and intended to address the concerns of local residents,”
said WHAV President and General Manager Tim Coco. He
explained listeners may especially find interest in the Open Mike Show,
which presents timely guests and gives area residents a chance to call
and discuss issues of concern. Open Mike airs live at 6:30 p.m., on
Monday nights.
Plaistow civic groups and businesses have
also been invited to submit listings for the station’s hourly Community
Spotlight program and Business Bulletin respectively.
The WHAV call letters have been associated
with local broadcasting since 1947. For nearly five years, the WHAV
call has been heard on the Internet at WHAV.net and a number of public
access cable television stations in Andover, Haverhill and Methuen, and
Plaistow and Sandown, N.H. Low-power AM radio service at 1640 was also
recently inaugurated. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently
awarded WHAV’s current owner federal protection from service mark
infringement. WHAV is one of the fastest growing Internet radio
stations, ranking in the top 10 percent of all Internet radio stations.
