Guerin Serves
as Guest Host of
Open Mike Show Monday Night
Former Mayor
Welcomes Calls;
Listen for Special Surprise
Former Haverhill Mayor John J. Guerin Jr.
will be taking listener calls Monday night as guest host of WHAV’s Open Mike
Show.
Guerin served as Haverhill’s mayor during 2002 and 2003 and was
appointed as a member of state Civil Service Commission in 2004 by
then-Gov. Mitt Romney. Previously, he served as a member of the
Haverhill City Council for 10 years.
In the studio opposite Guerin will be Tim Coco. Guerin and Coco last
appeared together on WHAV 30 years ago on “What’s Happening at H.H.S.”
when both were Haverhill High School seniors. Guerin was class
president.
Regular Open Mike Show host Jack Bevelaqua is on medical leave. The

Tony
Seton, former ABC Network Television journalist and producer of Barbara
Walters interviews, will talk about the state of the news media next Monday in downtown
Haverhill.
Seton will discuss “From Cronkite to
Colbert: Journalism in Transition,” Monday, Sept. 21 at The Galleria
Banquet Room, Maria’s Family Restaurant, 83-85 Essex Street, Haverhill.
He will also be available for a wine and cheese reception before the
talk. Tickets are $100 for both the reception and talk and $25 for the
lecture only and may be obtained by calling (978) 374-2111 or visiting
www.WHAV.net.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the
establishment of the Edwin V. Johnson Newsroom. Johnson, above right, who
passed
away in 2003, was associated with WHAV for 34 years. He retired as news
director in 1985.
Seton is a veteran broadcast journalist who
covered Watergate, eight presidential elections, five space missions
and produced Barbara Walters’ news interviews. He also won several
national awards for his production of ABC’s business-economics news.
His “SetonnoteS” — a daily two minute
commentary — is heard at 6 and 11 p.m., following the news, on WHAV.
Formal
dedication of the “Edwin V. Johnson Newsroom”
at WHAV is scheduled for mid-October.
